Description
The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British interceptor aircraft that served with the RAF during the Second World War. The Defiant was designed as a “turret” fighter without any forward facing guns. It was a contemporary of FAA Blackburn Roc.
In reality the Defiant was found to be reasonably effective against bombers, but vulnerable to Luftwaffe’s more agile, single seat Me 109 fighters. The lack of forward armament proved a major weakness in daylight combat, and was more effective as a night fighter.
