Description
Sporting 8″ main armament, HMS Exeter was one of two York class heavy cruisers that served in the Royal Navy during World War II. The ship was badly damaged by the Admiral Graf Spee during the River Plate off the coast of Montevideo in December 1939 following which she was received a major overhaul.
After her refit she was despatched to the east of India, when in 1942, at the Battle of the Java Sea off Surabaya, she was sunk by the Japanese navy.
The kit depicts the ship at the time of the Battle of the River Plate.
