Description
The Convair F-106 Delta Dart was an American single-engine interceptor, referred by the USAAF at the time as the ultimate interceptor serving in the USAF from the 1960s through to the 1980s. The aircraft initially was powered by a Pratt-Whitney J75-17 afterburning turbojet engine and equipped by an internal weapons bay, which improved its aerodynamic qualities. During its service, the F-106 became appreciated by its pilots, and compared to the F-4, had better acceleration but with similar manoeuvrability. The F-106 was never been used in combat, nor has it been exported outside of the US. F-106, stationed mainly in the United States, with only a small number serving 0n bases in Germany and South Korea.
