Description

HMS Royal Oak was the eighth ship to bear the name, joining the Grand Fleet in 1916 and taking part in the Battle of Jutland. She received multiple refits during the interwar years, including enhanced AA defences and torpedo bulges, yet remained slow by WWII standards. Anchored in Scapa Flow during the early days of the war, she was torpedoed and sunk by U‑47 on the night of 13–14 October 1939, resulting in the loss of 833 lives—a serious shock to British home waters defence.

This brand-new-tool plastic model from Trumpeter showcases HMS Royal Oak, a Revenge-class battleship launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1916. The kit captures her classic dreadnought silhouette with full hull, deck structures, main and secondary guns, anti-aircraft armament, and twin torpedo tubes. Known for her service in WWI—including Jutland—and tragically sunk at Scapa Flow in October 1939, this model offers a historically rich build with detailed fittings and accurate lines.

  • Full-hull configuration with option for waterline display
  • Detailed deck structures, gun turrets, AA armament and rangefinders
  • High-fidelity superstructure and mast framework
  • Includes lifeboats, anchors, torpedo tubes, and detailed railings
  • Decals for HMS Royal Oak circa 1939

Note: Glue, paints and tools are not included.

These colour references match typical late-WWI to pre‑WWII Royal Navy battleship finishes. They are visually based on authentic standards and may differ from the colours referenced in the instructions, and would direct modellers to undertake further references as paints offered by AK and Colourcoats (Resolution Hobbies) offers accurate reproductions.
