Description
The Seafang was essentially a redesigned Spiteful for a carrier borne aircraft for the Royal Navy. Two prototype Seafang Mk. 32s were ordered in March 1945 , followed by an order for 150 Seafang Mk. 31s two months later. To expedite service, the interim Mk. 31 was ordered being essentially a navalised version of the Spiteful with an arrestor hook, allowing the Mk. 32 to be developed, representing the definitive naval variant, with the addition of an arrestor hook and a contra-rotating propeller, to eliminate the effect of engine torque as well as a folding wing.
